For those of you who don’t know me, I am Lizzy; author of the Michi where I post, honestly any kind of content but I like to focus on recipes and poems.

Why a Ronin?

Now a questions you may ask is: why are you called a “Ronin”? Great question! A ronin is a wanderer…previously a Samurai, who lost his master. So a ronin is masterless. He follows his own path. But it doesn’t have to be alone. I created this space for those of us who are forging our own ways, whether in our careers, our health, or our creative lives. That is why I invite all you travelers who come by this to consider subscribing to join me as my Ronin brother or sister.

I mentioned Ronins are masterless…but I will say this: only God is my master, and I love Him because He has helped me so much…but for the sake of my content, and living in this world, yes, I am a Ronin and do not answer to anyone who claims to be “above” anyone.

Why The Michi?

Another great question you are probably asking is: “why is your Substack called ‘The Michi’? Michi means “path” or “way” in Japanese. Therefore, as a ronin with a handful of passions, I am wandering an endless path to find others like me and share my passions and thoughts with others.

My goal at The Michi is to help people. I love posts or blogs that have a point. Even if it’s creative, like a recipe, it has an end result that you can see (in the case of a recipe, taste, smell, and feel as well).

Why is it free to subscribe to The Michi? I didn’t come here to get verified or paid. I want everyone, no matter their situation, to come here and ask questions, learn, give advice, smile, share similar experiences…It’s open for everyone! I don’t ever want to put that pressure on anyone to feel like they need to exchange something for something they aren’t sure will be “worth it”.

But of course…I would love to do content full time to continue to help people. Therefore, I have a YouTube where I am monetized. You all know this is free to subscribe, so if you would like to see me share my recipes as videos and maybe even do some other fun things (even just a rant about life), consider subscribing to support me! I also have an Instagram where I share visuals and updates.

I said I’d focus on recipes and poems. But that’s not all I am. Like many of you, I am creative and love learning new things. My passions include: writing, fashion illustration, working out, critiquing films, cooking, baking, learning languages (currently Russian and Japanese), editing videos, reading, and kickboxing.

Fun Facts About Me…

Currently binge watching Supernatural. Also watching a whole bunch of other shows right now: Friends, The Boys, Two Broke Girls, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (sorry, it’s my childhood…).

My favorite movies are the Avengers. Most of the MCU is fire but there’s a few I’d leave out.

My favorite characters ever are Castiel from Supernatural, Tony Stark, Bucky Barnes, and Legolas. Of course Sam and Dean are close to my heart as well. They are pretty much me and my sister from their age, height, attitudes, likes…just everything…even when they fight and make up.

My favorite music genre has got to be country and classic 80’s rock. But it depends on the mood. Country music is awesome on road trips but I also enjoy nostalgic 2000’s hits when I visit those fast food restaurants I’ve only been to once when I was little.

My favorite dessert…such a hard choice, but apple pie is up there.

My favorite thing to do in my past time….don’t judge…it’s eating. I love cooking and baking, but eating is the best part. I like any kind of food (psstt…ramen and sushi are the best!)

Matcha is my favorite drink, but since it’s pricey, a good cup of black coffee is a perfect wake-me-up.

I graduated high school at 16 AND started college. I thought I was ahead, but, hey, I’m still figuring out stuff…My goal since I was 13 though was always to create content which I am constantly working towards. Even though it’s not stable yet, it’s my passion and I’ll go with it. Acting and modeling were a really big dream, but I’ve moved on I think…I enjoy writing so sometimes I’ll study scripts.

That’s some stuff about me! Also please note that it is my promise for all of my socials to NEVER swear. I absolutely hate vulgar language for no reason whatsoever.
