This was so deep, thoughtful, and sweet! I loved the examples, and you know I was looking forward to seeing this in writing from you. Cuz you always tried to tell me what you think about it and you've asked me as well. You know I'll do the same for you too 😊 just like Dean wound do for Sam and just like Thor would do for Loki.

This has been in my head for months! I've been thinking about it so much with the examples cuz I love love literally. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I will always be your Sam and your Loki. ❤️ ❤️

The steady presence section is where this piece finds its most original voice. It doesn't get discussed enough because it lacks the drama of romantic love and the cultural celebration of friendship, but it might be the most demanding form of love there is. To remain constant for someone who keeps finding ways to test that constancy.

To choose them again not in a grand moment but in the ordinary unremarkable ones that nobody witnesses or applauds.

Thor and Loki is exactly the right example. The love isn't in the dramatic rescues. It's in the trusting again after every reason not to.

Hi Abidemie! I’m glad you enjoyed! And yes, this was my favorite type of Love to write about. It’s unsung almost because of its definition. I’m so happy you had this insight and I was thinking of doing an article just highlighting this one. Thor had me always questioning why he trusted Loki so I gave it some more thought and came up with this. Thanks for reading!

Please write that article. The steady presence deserves its own full examination precisely because its defining quality makes it so easy to overlook, you can't point to the dramatic moment because the drama is in the absence of drama. The consistency itself is the whole story and that's genuinely difficult to write about with the kind of clarity you brought to it here.

Thor trusting Loki again is the question that unlocks the whole thing. Why does someone keep choosing a person who keeps giving them reasons not to. That answer has something important in it about what love actually is underneath all the easier definitions.
